Hi There,
Seeing as the old new document and export windows won't be coming back in any form, could frustrations raised with regard to these new windows get fixed?
Some of these issues break UX basics like increasing mouse work and clicks, breaking consistency with the OS, and breaking consistency between other Adobe apps - which makes no sense seeing as many of us use multiple Adobe apps each day.
NEW DOCUMENT WINDOW

1.
Overall, this screen conflates project management (file name and location) with footage import, and 90% of the window is taken up with sample footage?
File management and file discipline is mission critical, it's often a source of messy work and frustration with inexperienced staff. So hiding mission critial file management within an extra drop-down (that also interfares with the time thumb on sample footage - see screenshot) is crazy sorry.
Mission critical stuff shouldn't require more mouse work and clicks to access.
2.
Custom UI for interacting with the file system feels cool but it breaks all OS shortcuts. And the way an OS works in this regard is often why a user chooses one OS over another.
Yes, video tools which originally came from Unix had to implement their own way of interacting with the file system. But in 2023 (especially if your on Mac) obscuring OS native file shortcuts and UX is a drawback.
Why would anyone want each Adobe app to interact with the file system in a different way?
EXPORT WINDOW

1.
Allow keyboard entry in all drop-downs so we can hit 'q' for quicktime or the first letter of a custom preset for example.
2.
Remember previous settings per timeline. Again, why create extra work? UPDATE: This now works much better but I have one project which never remembers the last export setting but another which does. Maybe the one that doesn't was created in an older version but I'm not 100% why.
3.
The roll-ups/accordions are painful because you can't see both video and audio settings simultaneously - yet more pointing and clicking. Also, the vertical spacing on everything is too big, especially for laptops - which is why you've probably implemented accordions? We don't use Resolve because of it's large vertical spacing, it's a pain-point for many of us, especially when on the road.
4.
It's great that 'Export' is now the primary button and not 'Send to Media Encoder'. However, hitting enter to export often opens one of the settings dropdowns and no combination of ENTER or RETURN (either with or without CMD) reliably executes the export for me - sometimes it works but most of the time it does nothing.
5.
Several times now, the Range dropdown has set itself to 'Custom'. I've noticed other users talking about this. Not sure why or if this is now fixed. However, I did notice that it had set itself to the previous video exported (20sec) when the new video was 15sec, thus rendering 5sec of black at the end. Not sure if this is a bug but I still can't reliably replicate this.
6.
The genral experience of using the Export window is made frustrating by the flow which is best illustrated in the following screenshots from another user. Especially on larger displays. Old window...

New window...

7.
For some reason, the Events window keeps popping which interrupts everything (like a website pop-up) when exporting multiple timelines - like exporting 30 or 40 shorter assets for an online advertising campaign.
I've tried docking the events window but the interface still jumps to it. Maybe this is the cause of problems with issue 4 shown above? Not sure. But I haven't found any way of turning it off sorry - if you know what I'm doing wrong, please let me know!
8.
And more broadly, could you take into account that many users subscribe to CC, so use multiple Adobe apps per day. The gap between the same features accross multiple CC apps is becoming shockingly wide.
e.g. Have you used the Premiere masking tool recently? Why doesn't the drawing of vector paths work identically to Photoshop's? Why re-create a tool but make it worse? There are countless examples from type tools, alignment tools, creating and managing colours, asset management, font management - the list goes on.
Truly, it's a worrying trend that will be unbelievably expensive to unwind - and because consistency is king, it ALWAYS gets unwound, eventually.
Cheers, Ben
