Hello,
I have the following problem...
I have a new MacBook Pro, M2 Max with 1TB and 64GB RAM.
I load a PDF in Illustrator and want to generate a TIF from it.
My old MacBook Pro from 2012 with 16GB RAM takes a bit, but does it without problems.
With my M2 Max with 64GB RAM I get the error message that there is not enough RAM available? huh?
Does anyone here possibly have a tip for me?
Thanks a lot!

Try doing this with Photoshop. You might get better results.

This might be right... but is not the solution for the problem that illustrator has

You want to get a job done, I assume. And then that's what I would do. Rasterization results are better with Photoshop.
Opening a PDF is not recommended anyway, since Illustrator is not a general purpose PDF editor. https://prepression.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-ten-commandments-of-pdf.html
And since you think this is a bug, please report it and upload your file, so that the engineers can analyze it. https://illustrator.uservoice.com

Hello @Lenn32312569ut26,
I understand you're encountering an issue with Adobe Illustrator where you're trying to generate a TIF file from a PDF, and you're receiving an error message stating that there's not enough RAM available despite having a MacBook Pro with 64GB of RAM. This issue can be frustrating, but let's try to address it.
There are a few steps you can take:
Is this problem occurring with a specific PDF file, or does it happen with any PDF you try to convert? Sometimes, issues can be related to specific file content or corruption.
If you suspect that it might be a file-specific issue, open the PDF in Illustrator and check if there are any corrupted layers or sub-layers that could be causing the problem. Sometimes, hidden or corrupted elements within a PDF can lead to issues.
As suggested by Monika Gause, if the primary goal is to rasterize the PDF, Adobe Photoshop is often a better choice for this task. Photoshop is optimized for working with raster images.
Ensure that you are using the latest versions of both Adobe Illustrator (v27.9) and macOS (13.5.2).
Please provide additional information, such as whether this issue is specific to a particular PDF file or if it occurs with all PDFs. Also, confirm the versions of Adobe Illustrator and macOS installed on your MacBook Pro, as this information can be helpful in troubleshooting the problem further.
Also, please share the PDF with us, and we will check at our end.
Once you've provided this additional information, we can better pinpoint the cause of the issue and offer more tailored troubleshooting steps. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, and we'll do our best to assist you further.
Best,
Anshul Saini
