Gradual Blur and Gradient in Illustrator

Hi. I'm learning how to work with gradients and fades, and looking for examples to recreate I found this. I've been trying to do it but i can't get it to look like that. How can I do an effect like this in Illustrator?

Two ellipses and a rectangle. And then create a blend between the ellipses:
