Help with Logo Text Please

Hello Community,

I am new to Adobe Illustrator, and I am currently trying to compose a new logo.I have been looking at various videos online such as youtube. The most recient one has taught me how to create an image but when I go to insert any text for some strange reason it is coming up with a blue hashtag at the end of the text plus I have also noticed an odd small dot which comes up in the middle of a word and I cannot remove them. Has this happened to anyone else? If it has happened to you or someone you know, then how was this issue fixed?. Please, any information is extreemly apprecited.

Type > Hide/Show Hidden Characters.

A hash is the symbol for 'end of story', the dot is the symbol for 'space'.
