I want to draw such "snowflake" pic using 1/8 part of it.

Is there way to use Illustrator to draw such a snowflake in live mirror mode?

I thought that I can use clipping mask and Transform Effects for it. But when I use Transform Effects on clipping mask group, I found that illustrator doesn't ignore objects inside mask. And I had unexpected result.

In the end of gif (when I use crop from pathfinder panel), I demonstrate a result which I want to have in this situation

Fedorov,

You can use the MirrorMe plugin from Atute Graphics:

http://www.astutegraphics.com/software/mirrorme/

I am afraid Illy can only give you (almost, if showing after each new Anchor Point counts) live mirroring with only one reflective axis, unless there is some script out there. You may try to ask in the scripting forum:

Thanks, dougofakkad!
I know about this plugin, but maybe is there way to making it using default possibilities of illustrator?

this is two transform effects applied to the layer, on for the X and one for the Y axis (select circle icon in layers panel to select layer appearance). the box is to constrain it; you can make it no stroke/fill:

Right you are, Doug.

You can also use Rotate and the right number of copies.

I believe the key is the constraining square, which is unecessary for a simple one to two reflexion so I failed to think about it here.
