Making the stroke an image

Hello all. I'm quite new to illustrator, so go easy on me. I have a logo that I made, but I want to make the stroke for the logo, an image. Any thought's on how too?

Place the logo over the image (make sure the logo is in front). Select both. In the transparency panel, click 'make mask', then tick 'invert mask'.
