Hello,

Since the update on Aug 31, I have not been able to open any files that I previously created. Illustrator just crashes immediately. I can create new files but they are glitchy. The glitches include the file opens with everything in the file flattened so when you try to select a placed image it selected the entire page as an object which can be moved or deleted but nothing else.

I have submitted reports to Adobe but haven't heard back yet. I need to be able to access this program for work deliverables and we're going on day 3 of not being able to use the software. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I use a Mac Book Pro but I'm having this same issue on both my MacBook and my iMac desktop.

Hi Srishti-

My issue seems to have corrected intself. I think it was a Hot Doors Cad Tool Plug-in I am running. Shortly after I commented on the problem Hot Doors provided an update. I reinstalled Illustrator with the HD update and no crash issues. My co-worker also reports the same after the update no crash issues.  Thank you for the follow up! Cheers.

Hi, I'm not sure what your issue is but have you tried resetting your preferences..?

And maybe failing that you could revert to an older version for now until someone answers your question or fixs the issue.

Having the exact same issue, while some files are ok others crash immidately. On a co-worker Mac Book he gets an image link error- then crash. No idea on the solution- easier to just revert to the previous version and continue on.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about these issues. This is definitely not a typical experience. There are no changes made to the file format. I would like to know if the problem is resolved by resetting preferences as suggested above. If not, I would request if you could try the steps shared on this page and let us know how it goes.

If that doesn't help either, please feel free to share a sample file. We'd be happy to take a look.

Regards,

Srishti
