Bad performance when using Overprint Preview

Recently upgraded from a mid spec PC (no dedicated GPU) to a new 16in Macbook Pro (+ 4k 2nd monitor). Unfortunately InDesign's Overprint Preview (which I use a lot) is incredibly slow and laggy on the new Mac. I wouldn't expect a new Mac with a 4Gb 5300M to be out-performed by a 5-year-old Win 7 PC with Intel graphics!

It doesn't matter which monitor I use it on, or if I disconnect one and just use the built in display -- perfomance is always bad in Overprint Preview. 'High Quality Display' mode is usually smooth, but becomes poor when displaying vector-heavy illustrations from linked AI files, often followed by repeat silent crashes.

I'm using 'GPU Preview' as performance with 'Preview on CPU' is too poor to use. Could it be related to the high DPI displays, or a graphics driver bug? That's all I can think of at the moment.

Just bumping this one.

TLDR: Overprint Preview is very slow and laggy on brand new MacBook Pro. Has anyone else had this? Any work arounds?
