Data merge creates extra pages - help

My 17 page document went to 320 pages after a data merge! This seems random. Does anyone know why this might happen? Thanks

what did you expect to happen? And why?

Show the settings you did with data merge, post the screenshots, and also describe your template document.

Better load the template document plus your data source file to Dropbox or a similar service and post the download link so that we can see into the issue.
