First charcter doesn't type when editing

When I select (ie highlight) text and then type over it the first character doesn't appear on the screen. I have to type the first character TWICE.

Adobe support can't help -  they just say to create a new document - but when I do that the same thing happens.

Weird. Never had this problem before.

Running latest Win10 and InDesign.

Any advice would be welcome.

Unchecking an option in preferences fixed the same problem for me.

Make sure you have the latest version of InDesign : 14.0.2.

This was an issue with version 14.0 of InDesign.

Please update to the latest version 14.0.2
