So, we've had this issue on our new MacBook Pro running macOS Mojave v10.14.4 ever since last year in August when we were on High Sierra (what came with the Mac).
Basically, InDesign is unusable with Gujarati Sangam MN on the 2019 version but on 2014 (v10.0.0.70) version on my old Mac (OS X Yosemite, v10.10.5) it works fine.
What's causing this issue?
We've tried the following:
- Contacted Adobe & Apple support: Apple said to contact Adobe, Adobe was unhelpful, they suggested we look up if the font was installed it it is on the new Mac using Font book.
- Updated Adobe InDesign 2019 to 14.0.2.
- Arial seems to work, so maybe it's something to do with this font on new Macs or InDesign 2019?
- Unrelated (because CC was showing trial expired from dropdown but a new account let us test the new update for 7 days, still same issue): https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/limited_access_repair_tool.html#
Also noticed some images aren't rendering properly coming from Adobe InDesign 2014 to 2019.
We simply cannot buy InDesign 2019/CC if this issue hasn't been fixed or can't be fixed.
PS: Is there a way to move all the font options back to the top of the window like in InDesign 2014, rather than on the right?
Pics included:
Mac Mojave 10.14.4 with Adobe InDesign 2019:
No text spacing between words on Gujarati Sangam MN font, Adobe 2019 on Mojave 10.14.4.
Adobe InDesign 2014 on old Mac Yosemite 10.10.5, renders fine (I made the file in this version and have been working with it ever since):
As you can see the spacing between words is perfectly fine, very annoying how Adobe InDesign 2019 isn't accomodating for this out of the box.
Any how, I'm thinking of just choosing a template from Adobe Stock templates to redesign this resume, since it's proving so problematic and is due to a refresh. This current resume I designed from scratch in Adobe 2014, but it doesn't seem that portable to 2019 version.
Thank you again, hope this can be solved or otherwise serve others too.
Regards,
Siteroo Team

In the title bar of your 2019 version I can see you have GPU Preview on, try turning off GPU Performance in Preferences

I tried that, still same result... I noticed there's quite a few scenarios to try here first but it seems so tedious. I'll get around to it when I have time. I'm just shocked at how many issues I'm having with Adobe InDesign CC 2019 and Mojave these past 8 months!
Definitely not giving my any buyer's confidence in Adobe or Apple. I wonder if Windows has any of these issues? I Googled it and it seems just as bad. https://www.google.com/search?q=Adobe+InDesign+buggy+on+Windows
I also ran into a much more terrible black flashing screen issue on my external Dell 4k P2415Q display, InDesign 2019 (Version: 14.0.2.324 (14020)) is basically unusable for me whenever I’m dragging and dropping an object, the screen with flash black for a few seconds which is highly annoying! I recorded it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhYoDoOdeqc | https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/20484268-screenflickeri...
Also, InDesign 2019 crashed when I was trying to save to my Synology NAS which was connected at the time of hitting save in Finder since I did a Save As and browsed to the directory I wanted on my NAS. Doesn’t seem like NAS saving works from within InDesign. I submitted a crash report to Adobe detailing this.
Very discontent at the moment! 😠

I'm not seeing a problem with Gujarati Sangam MN using CC2019 on High Sierra.
You might try saving the problem doc out as an IDML file, and if that doesn’t work delete your ID Caches folder, and then your Prefs.
