Dear all,

I am creating a book from an Apple Pages document, copying text into text frames and all the rest.

At certain points there are LaTeX equations which I should render somehow.

How is this achieved in InDesign?

Thank you so much!

There is no support of equations in ID. https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601021-adobe-indesign-feature-requests/suggestions/32805088-mathml-support - add you voice and wait... We're wait top-requests in uservoice by years 😞

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. In addition to George's suggestion, I have found some helpful community discussions. Please check them out and see if they help:

2. https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/latex-to-indesign/td-p/11047599?page=1

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Ok, how to insert MathType equations - https://forum.rudtp.ru/threads/kak-verstat-teksty-s-formulami-v-indesign.73782/ (use it some google-translate). But, this is not a LaTex that ask topicstarter.

Thanks George, I have added "my voice" to the request.

Thank you too, Ashutosh.

Of course I could use an external LaTeX editor and then insert the images in frames and then link, group etc ... but this is so unwieldy ... I mean, Apple Pages and MS Word, both clearly inferior products when it comes to layout documents, support LaTex and MathType equations.

Concerning scripting, I have a very small knowledge of programming (and limited to making iOS apps so not very useful in this context) so I could not begin to imagine what to do with the workflow suggested in the second link.

The main issue is that I have entire sentences where every 5-6 words there is a LaTeX rendering of special characters (musical chords, numbers with superposed characters and so on...).

I will think carefully about how to solve this but I have to say I did not expect InDesign to abandon me in this... I had switched from Pages to InDesign for its greater capabilities but this ... *sigh*
