Hey!

I have downloaded InDesign on my Lenovo Yoga 330 . After installing the program, I wanted to open it, but only the start window opened and nothing happened, except that the start window closed again and I looked on my desktop again. I downloaded InDesign again, no success. Try it with InDesign 2017, the same game.

I'm not really experienced in EDV, so I could use some help.

What is EDV?

What is your definition of "start window?"

Hi Bob,

EDV is short for Elektronische Datenverarbeitung, German for IT.

Best,
Uwe

Ah, okay.

So, English is not the OP’s native language. I wonder if Start Window is just the splash screen.

Hi Lorenz,

inspect your Task Manager if InDesign is running as process in the background (category: "Hintergrundprozesse").

If yes, terminate the task. Then try again.

Here an example where InDesign is clearly running as "normal" task under Apps and not as background process:

TaskManager-Processes.PNG

FWIW: In one case I had problems with PhotoShop starting up. A look to the Task Manager revealed, that it was running as background process only. I killed the task then and were able to proceed as intended, launching PhotoShop without problem.

Regards,
Uwe
