Would anyone know of a script that does someting like this? We are migrating to a cloud-based server but will lose links back to our images. Instead, we have to re-import each image and match all parameters to the oringal.

My idea for a workflow is

  1. User opens file
  2. User imports image from new server
  3. User runs script
    1. Script asks for old image
    2. Script asks for new image
    3. User complies and clicks OK
    4. Script copies parameters from old image and applies to new image
      1. For example frame size, position and rotation
      2. For example, image scale, postion and rotation
      3. For example, image transparency and Indesign layer

Can't you just select the image and click on the Relink button in the Links panel?

Sadly no. Moving to cloud-based system will not provide for re-linking. Each image on the layout will have to be found, then placed, then manually adjusted to match pre-existing parameters.

How then do you envision a script that will allow you to "select the new image" from the cloud? It sounds like it still would be available through some kind of file path?

Good question... we have to hunt it down, import it onto our page, and then match all the parameters.

It's literally like starting over.

A video demo of how you will be having to interact with the cloud server by hand to relink the file would help us guide you to a solution.
