I'm working with an indd which consists of 32 pages imported from a pdf. Until today I could publish this file online without any issues.
Today my InDesign app crashed everytime before the file conversion completed (at about 75%), without any error message - the windows just disappears. Memory consumption during conversion is 3-6GB (I've not checked that before when it worked).
I have re-started the machine, re-installed InDesign, installed InDesign on another machine. I've created the indd again and imported all 32 pdf pages again. All leads to the same behavior - window disappears at about 75% conversion.
Any ideas how I could at least get an indication / error message so I understand what's the problem here (all of a sudden)? This is not the quality I'd expect from an Adobe app.

Couple of things. Can you publish other files via Publish Online? If so, the doc may be "funky." Save as .idml and re-open. This can clean up a lot of funkiness (to use the technical term 😊).
If the app if the problem, even though you re-installed InDesign, you may not have replaced the preferences, as I seem to recall you can install and keep prefs. So, please delete your InDesign preferences. https://creativepro.com/rebuilding-indesign-preferences/
