I am creating an interactive journal and am trying to add a button that when clicked, will add a new page (in the master format) to the next page. Is there a way to do this?

Not with InDesign and I'm not even sure why you'd want a new blank page in a PDF.

Ask in the Acrobat forum but you might want to explain exactly why you need to do this.

You can have a word or words or an image (such as a button shape) as a document hyperlink in InDesign to say another page in the document or to an external website for outputting to an Interactive PDF. Some devices, for example, iPads, don't have rollover capability – only click – you should avoid multi-action buttons like On Click, On Roll Over, etc.  Multi-state object (MSO) don’t work at all in Interactive PDFs.

I believe you want to look into spawning a new page from a template object (using Acrobat).

You can create the button in InDesign and use Acrobat to add fuctionality.
