Mac beach ball keeps spinning when I'm working on a larger Indesign project

When I work with Indesign 2021 on larger book projects (combination of numerous individual documents) with many images and large maps, it often runs like clockwork for a long time. Then there are days when you practically can't work because the MacBeachBall is always spinning. I've disabled a lot of things that are mentioned on the internet as possible culprits, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Has anyone else had the problem as well?
Has anyone managed to fix it? If so, how?

Zitat:

"… My Time Machine (macOS) was automatically creating backups while I worked in InDesign. I never had this problem before, but now it did. It wasn't possible to work with Indesign because it became so slow. After stopping automatic Time Machine Backup it ran like it did before. "
