Multiple files to be saved manually in a book

This morning, after installing the newest update of InDesign, i started creating a book file. I wanted to place all the files in the book file. Immediately I got the "Save As" window for every file in the book seperatly, I think so the files will be saved in the newest version. Because I have more than 100 files in 1 book, this is verry time consuming. Is there a better way to make this less time consuming? Is it possible that the files can be saved automatically?

Look into the script Batch process by Peter Kahrel:

http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/batch_convert.html

EDITED:

The link to download Peter Kahrel's scripts changed!

https://creativepro.com/files/kahrel/indesignscripts.html

Batch Process is available here:

Whenever you try to open any files in the latest version i.e. ID 2020 which were created in the older version i.e. ID 2019 then it will give you prompt to save the file again while adding it into InDesign book because the file format gets changed as soon as you try to open the file in the different/newer version. you would probably need to re-save all the files at least one time and save it again so that all the files would become compatible with the newer version of ID CC 2020.

Hello,

In addition to the responses given earlier, I'd also recommend you to click on https://indesign.uservoice.com/ and provide your feedback/suggestion as it is a great feature to have in InDesign.

This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Hi,

I have the same problem and we have more than 25000 existing InDesign files (version 14.0.3).

I also know the batch converter from Peter Kahrel. It works fine but if you have a lot of files it will also take a lot of time.

So this is not a easy and fast way. I think that adobe should offer a better solution. With every version change you have this problem again.

Regards,

Marcel

I posted this question a year ago, but is is still not solved. This morning I downloaded the latest version and got the same problem that I had one year ago. The script of Kahrel does not work anymore and i can not download it again, so this is now not an option for me. Does anyone has a solution for the problem?
