All of the sudden my Indesign is giving me an error box whenever I click File>New>Document or Ctrl+N
A blank error box appears and has %CCX_FNFT_DIALOG_NAME as the header. It won't let me create a new document.
I can still open an existing document however.
Which version of InDesign and OS?
Have you tried resetting your InDesign preferences?
InDesign CC ver 13.0.1 x64 on Windows 10
To reset your preferences try this:
Close InDesign. Then hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and relaunch InDesign. Respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences.
Tried that, I'm not even getting an option to reset the preferences. It flashes a quick box and I can't see what it says.
Then tried to create New Document. Same error.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it still didn't fix it.
Did you uninstall using the drop-down menu in the Creative Cloud app (see screen shot below)?
If that doesn't work when you reinstall InDesign, uninstall InDesign again and run Adobe Cleaner before reinstalling Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
Thanks for the advice but that hasn't fixed the issue yet. Maybe I need to contact Adobe about it.
A Google search for %CCX_FNFT_DIALOG_NAME brought up a couple of hits, but they were all Photoshop, not InDesign.
Report it as a bug at user voice so the engineers and all other users can see it.
Hi, I think I know how to fix your issue.!! I was having the same code except I use Windows 8.1 so after I couldn't find out how to fix it I called Adobe and a man walked me through a couple steps and it fixed it immediately.!!!
check the box that says....
Use legacy "File New" interface
Then try to open a new file
It worked for me...so I'd bet it will work for you too.!!
I hope this is of assistance to you because I know how frustrating "troubleshooting" can me.
Have a blessed evening....Mindi C.
Hi Mindi C, thank you so much for fixing that. I can't believe I spent half an hour with Adobe Tech Support and they couldn't figure out such a simple solution!
Adobe, you have FAILED THIS CITY!
Thanks again Mindi C, you are the best!
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
We would like to inform you that we are investigating this issue on priority basis. You can use legacy "File New" interface as a workaround now.
Launch InDesign > Edit > Preferences > General > select the box that says "Use legacy "File New" interface" > click ok
Two years back issue and it occures again with the latest InD 2021? 🙄
Please help me, I am getting the same issue in InDesign and I cannot see any "Use legacy "File New" Interface" option there.
I need to fix this issue urgently to start with my project.
Mindy - that worked like a charm for the same issue with Photoshop as well. Thanks!!
%ccx_fnft_dialog_name it works for this error
I was having this issue too... tried this and worked immediately! Thanks!
Thanks! That worked like a charm!!
I performed the steps you described and was able to open a new document.
Then, I unchecked the legacy box in pereferences and closed the app.
When I opened indesign again, with the new 'new document' dialog.
I'm sure this should work for others.
this really worked with me too ! thanks allot buddy !
Thank you! This help me.
I am experiencing the same issue. Plus, the "Show 'Start' Workspace Wnen No Documents Are Open" isn't working either.
Please update your Creative Cloud Desktop App to 220.127.116.118 and re-launch the application.
Please check if the issue is resolved.

Hi Himanshu, tried all that and it still doesn't work.
I'll continue to use the Legacy "New Document" version until a major update is released that fixes this on Windows 10.
Thank you. It's very useful to me and solved my problem.
