NOT SAVING, FILE DAMAGED

'InDesign is unable to save this file. We tried but it appears to be damaged', regarldess of what I am working on this is happening with all of my documents, even when I try to save a blank doc as a test run

Which version of InDesign and OS?

How much RAM and spare disk capacity do you have?

Consider resetting the InDesign preferences.

(The normal way of cleaning up a corrupt InDesign document is Saving it as an IDML document, but as you can't save it this method doesn't sound like an option.)
