I am trying to print an 8-page booklet, 2-up saddle stitch, from InDesign CC 2021, individual page size 8.5x11, onto 11x17 paper using a Brother MFC-6535DW. Both the "print booklet" preview in InDesign and the "Layout" preview in the printer (see attached screenshot) show the correct size and orientation of pages. However, the output from the printer is the wrong size and orientation (see image attached), and the pages printed on the other side of the sheet are head-to-foot rather than head-to-head with the pages on the side shown.
I've tried turning everything off and on again, to no avail.
Please, can anyone here help?

Following advice in old posts in this forum, I converted the file to a .pdf and printed from Acrobat. That worked perfectly, which is great for meeting my deadlines, but I would still like to know what the problem was with printing from InDesign, and whether I made an error that could be corrected.

Everybody, thank you for your advice on this issue, and please accept my apology for the delay in response. I did check, and my pages-per-sheet was set at 1; also my layout is for individual pages. Using the "print booklet" function directly from InDesign worked fine on the RICOH printer at the office, and the 28-page booklet needed beginning yesterday morning was done and distributed on time!
Meanwhile, an 8-page 8.5"x11" finish-size new project is "print bookleting" just fine from my home Brother, while a 16-page 5.5" x 8.5" finish-size booklet, set with (as far as I can see) the exact same settings, from a file in which the pages are individual 5.5" x8.5", refuses to print two-sided, though the page composition is correct. I'm headed into work shortly and will try it on the RICOH to see if I get a different result.
I'll report back, including, assuming I someday find it, describing the perfectly-obvious-but-invisible-to-me-at-present mistake that I am probably making.

Following on from yesterday's post, I was able to print the booklet perfectly, without changing any settings other than to which printer I was sending the file, on the RICOH printer at my work office.

If you've done all these things and it hasn't worked out, come back and let us know and we'll try other fixes that may help you. If these things don't work, please show us how your booklet pages are laid out in the InDesign document. That'd help us help you.
And I hope this helps,
Randy

Do you have a option to print a booklet from you printer? We updated our printers at my work and I had the same issue. The only resolution we found was to choose print from InDesign and choose the booklet printing from our new Canon printer. We even went through Canon to try to resolve and this was the only solution they gave us.

Itās because you are setting Pages per Sheet to 2 in the OS Print settings. Print Booklet imposes printer spreads so you need to leave it at 1.

>> but I would still like to know what the problem was with printing from InDesign,
Forget about it. ID printing was always be a toy with 100500 bugs. Print with exported PDF and don't waste your time.

I think it depends on the print driver. I print via a Postscript RIP to my large format printer and donāt have any problems with InDesign printing. I also tested Print Booklet to my non Postscript Brother printer and was able to replicate the OPās problem when I set Pages per Sheet to 2.
