Good morning,
Recently for some technical reasons I had to switch to “Myriad Variable Concept” typeface.
Since then I noticed that paragraphs that use this typeface behave strangely when exported to PDF.
While the display output is ok, the text has random number of whitespaces between characters if I copy and paste it into a plain text file. For example if I select and copy the following line from my InDesign-generated PDF:
“Quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog”
The paste results in notepad looks like:
“Q u i c k b r o wn f ox j u m p s o v e r t h e l a z y d o g”
This is concerning because I am worried it is going to affect accessibility.
I have this problem with all of the new "Variable Concept" typefaces.
Any advice appreciated,
Kasra
What version of InDesign are you using? Another issue with variable fonts in the PDF was reported as a bug in CC 2020: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/39177115-variable-fonts-don-t-display-correct-via-pdf-expor

Thank you very much for the advice, Barb.
The bug you mentioned looks simillar to my case. I'm using 15.0.1 (and the patch arrived with 15.0.2) so there's a possiblity that's the case.
Unfortunately I'm an enterprise user and it may take some time for our IT to update us to the latest version.
Kind regards,
Kasra
