Here is the workaround for resolving the issue of Lightroom Classic 12.3 not launching on macOS:

Manually change the permissions on the following folders and on all the items in these folders to Read & Write for the current user, so that Adobe applications are able to write to these folders when opened or during use:

/Users/[user name]/Library/Logs/
/Users/[user name]/Library/Logs/Adobe/

Thats what happened to me, so I have given up on 12.3 untill the next update happens.  As for my missing presets, I am rebuilding them one at a time

Presets are not lost by uninstalling/reinstalling.

We’ve reviewed the email address you use with this forum and find no crash reports in our system.

Did you see a crash dialog?

Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?

Was the crash dialog Adobe’s? Microsoft’s? Apple’s?

Rikk,

I have no idea what the crash report was from, I think it was adobe and the agent who tried to to get 12.3 working would have seen the details.   As for the presets, all I can say is they were gone and equally my actions in Photoshop were also gone.  Luckily I had them saved and I am now saving my Lightroom actions as I re-create them.

Thats it, sorry i can't be more specific but i am back up and running and cerainly don't want to try 12.3 again, i will wait for 12.3.1 as i can use other products to de-noise.

I don't find the folders under the user, I make the changes in root/Library. The version will not work, the problem is the same.

I am having the exact same problem and did the same with no joy, I suppose we will have to wait for a bug fix which is very poor service from Adobe.

At least there are a few of us with the same problem, all we can do is wait.

When trying to use LR12.3 I got a flash of the LR intro screen then a crach report from Apple. I have only just got 12.2.1 working again after having to reload the cat from my backups so I do not want to try 12.3 until there is a fix.

regarding not seeing ~/Library, navigate to your user folder and then use cmd-shift-<period> to show hidden files.

changing the permission for System Library (/Library/...) path permissions would not help. You need to change permissions for folders inside user's Library folder. You can open it using following steps:

  1. Go to Finder app
  2. Open the Go menu from top bar along with Option key.
  3. Option key would make Library folder visible in the list.

I find no crash reports under that email address. The next time it crashes, fill out the crash report dialog and take a screenshot and post the screenshot here.

Thank you!

If that is the case, why does the older version work? I'm having the same issue on a Studio Max...

Again, if you try running on a new, clean Mac user account, does it crash?

Each of you experiencing a crash should post their 'System Info' as obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu item.

The 'System Info' provides information that will help establish whether the issue is OS specific, driver related, etc.

Let me get this straight, you expect me to reinstall LRC, let it crash and then send you a crash report after one of your agents crashed LRC 12.3 multiple times, reviewed the crash report but didn't save it.   I have a working version of LRC and I am not going to risk messing it up.   There is obviously a problem with this release that Adobe needs to address rather than harping on about crash reports.  Sorry for this abrupt response but Adobe needs to get their act together.

Other than the specific version of LrC you're using, the 'System Info' for 12.2.1should be as 12.3

As such, I'm not asking anyone to reinstall anything. I simply requested the 'System Info'. At the moment we have a series of 'me too' posts that tell us next to nothing useful

As for Adobe fixing the issue, well, that's a lot easier done when they can actually reproduce.

Check marcus@lifethroughalens.com. Crash dialogue at least 10 times. Definitely from Adobe. The agent should be able to confirm as everything was done at his instigation. No issue on my iMac, only on MacBook Air (same operating system).
