Here is the workaround for resolving the issue of Lightroom Classic 12.3 not launching on macOS:

Manually change the permissions on the following folders and on all the items in these folders to Read & Write for the current user, so that Adobe applications are able to write to these folders when opened or during use:

/Users/[user name]/Library/Logs/
/Users/[user name]/Library/Logs/Adobe/

What happens when you try to launch? Describe in detail. How far does it get? What is the exact complete word-for-word error message?

Also, what version NUMBER of your MacOS?

The same here: IMac M1 with Ventura 13.3.1 Tried the same things as the topic starter.

You see for a very brief moment de splash screen from LR,then it shuts down.

Before this never a problem( LR user from version 1) with any version of LR.

So also;Suggestions?

Can you try the "reset preferences while launching" trick to see if that helps?

Hold down Opt and Shift and then start Lightroom Classic.

Warning though: this does not make a backup of your existing preferences, and some paid plugins tie their registration information to the preferences.

You only mentioned that you uninstalled twice. Uninstalling does not remove the preferences file.

Doesn't it seem odd that the only way to have the upgrade function is to lose all your preferences? I switched back to the earlier version, will skip this upgrade and hope the bug is fixed in the next round.

What you're experiencing isn't normal to begin with — so forum people are trying to make best guesses based on their experience what might be the issue. 🙂

If you want to experiment more you can find the preferences file and preserve it, but it involves a couple of extra steps:

Hope to help!

Alex.

Hi

If you are seeing the app crash, then please submit the crash report via Adobe Crash Reporter dialog along with your emailID used to login to Adobe.

If you are seeing the Apple's dialog (like shared below) for Lightroom Classic quit unexpectedly but not seeing the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog then please select Report... on Apple's dialog and copy the logs seen in the dialog in file and share that with us.

Hi, the preferences reset rescued me a few times... But now it does not resolve the LR crash and it generates the same error report.

I am having trouble getting the latest and greatest version of Lightroom Classic up and running.

The installation goes fine but when I try to start LRC, the banner is displayed, the intiation stops and the my Mac throws up an error.   I talked to an Adobe Tech. yesterday and he re-installed the previous version of LRC but I lost all my presets and my external editor links, his closing response was 'its a bug'.

I am running Mac OS Ventura 13.3.1 and I have been able to run the latest version on my Mac using a different logon, so it did install ok but for some reason it won't run on my standard account.

Which I must say on hindsight tee'd me off a bit.  I am paying for a product that is now out of date and if there is a bug, I would like to know when Adobe are going to have it resolved.

Is there anyone out there with the same problem and if they had resolved how did they do it.

John

"I have been able to run the latest version on my Mac using a different logon"

That likely means your 'standard' Mac User account is corrupt.

It's an admin account and all the other Adobe apps run ok, it's a rights issue of some kind I would like a pointer on how to resolve it.

No one said 'its a rights issue'. It is likely a corrupt user account.

Try logging into another Mac user account (you should make a new one); still crashing?
Try starting up in Safe mode (hold down Shift Key when booting*), still crashing?
You might want to try running a free utility like Onyx: still crashing?

Hi all - I'm on a PC, but haven't been able to launch my Lightroom Classic since the 12.2.1 upgrade. Initially I tried deleting the metrics.json file, and have since upgraded to 12.3, reinstalled, tried the reset preferences option, and still no luck. I'm on a new XPS 15 9520 with plenty of memory. And, it was working smoothly before the upgrades. Please help!

I had the exact same issue, with the same results. Only an issue with 12.3, no other apps. Spent an hour on chat with support, tried everything, in the end he basically said to wait for 12.3.1 and reinstalled 12.2.1 - which meant losing all presets, etc.
