P: LrC 12.2.1 fails to start/launch or is extremely slow launching.

Hi,

LRC 12.2.1 is not starting anymore, just launches as a background process using significant amounts of RAM and CPU, but the visible window never shows up. 

I have already:

- Tried the alt-shift-click thingie.

- Tried logging out and in from CC.

- Wiping all data files from the computer and letting LRC create a fresh Lightroom folder and catalog file (sometimes it does that, sometimes it hangs before the folder is created). 

- Wiping all Adobe products with the cleaner tool and reinstalling just LRC.

- I have even formatted and reisntalled the computer (becuase it was a good time to do that anyway).

But LRC still fails. What to do next?

And they even base64 encoded the entire metrics.json file, which makes it 25% larger than it would otherwise be. Winning strategy.

Thank you. I updated my app. Waiting to see if the experience improves. I have a feeling the metrics.json file was filling up because of some cloud syncing I've been trying to let complete. The cloud sync is really slow. It's been going on for days now, and I literally can't do anything in Lightroom while it's syncing or the whole app crashes. I have to pause the sync, do my work, then un-pause and let my computer churn while I'm away from it. The Cloud Sync alone is my number one contribution to Global Warming.

The release did not fix the problem for me. It is true that the metrics.json file has disappeared now and does not reappear upon starting to launch the program. But I continue to have the same issue, the starting screen flashed up very briefly and then the program crashes. What can I do? Needless to say that all the time I'm paying for a program that is not working.

You should start a new thread in Lightroom Classic Discussions and include complete system/software/troubleshooting information in your post. Another weird thing I have noticed is that Lightroom 12.3 works only my M1 Pro mac not on the M1 Max. For the Max it just keeps crashing whatever I try.

I have and M1 Max studio and it is working. I am still running MacOS Monterey 12.6.5. Do you have the same OS on both of your Apple computers?

This is beyond frustrating.  I've only been running Lightroom Classic CC for a few months, and was able to work within last night.  This morning it will not load on my iMac running Ventura 13.3.1.  I have uninstalled it more times than I want to count, I have deleted the prefrence list using shift + option, I have manually deleted the com.adobe.LightroomClassicCC7.plist, and have gone on to try deleting the metrics.json file within the Mac: /Users/username/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/metrics.json.  As I continue to repeat these steps and have re-moved and re-installed the application, I get absolutely no where, and am back to the original problem.   After the most recent re-install of the application, from my Adobe account (I do pay for access monthly, therefore have a subscription) this is the error information I receive:

@Kendra F 23, when it crashes, do you see the window asking you to submit the crash report to Adobe (not Apple)? If so, enter the email address associated with your Adobe Id and submit the report. Then notify @Rikk Flohr: Photography you've done so.

I am still experiencing the same issue LCR crashing upon launching even after trying steps outlined in the thread here. The only fix for me now is reverting to previous versions. Dissapointing wanting to try it's new features.

@Yesaira298728115bzq  This thread is about failing to launch or very slow launching. Your issue is apparently a  crash and thus, not the same as those in this thread. I would not expect these solutions to work for you. It would be best for you to create a new post in Lightroom Classic Discussions and include complete system information as well as a step-by-step process for reproducing the crash.

This thread is about slow to launch - not crashes. It is very unlikely the issues you are facing are related to this thread. I recommend you post a new thread in Lightroom Classic Discussions describing completely your system, software versions, and the steps to reproduce your problem. 

Additionally, we’ve reviewed the email address you use with this forum and find no crash reports in our system.

Did you see a crash dialog?

Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?

Was the crash dialog Adobe’s? Microsoft’s? Apple’s?
