Re installed, Got off the GPU (3 Nvidia 1070's) , Stared a new CAT and removed all external drives and Lightroom refuses to import new files in the last couple of days.

The program will go to the "Select a source" screen and locks up.  Does not show available drives on the left..

I have plenty of RAM (128gb) and hard disk space. (24.5Tb)  My drives report no error.

Edit:  Waiting 15 min bring up a drive list.  Clicking on a drive,  (I have 7 in this computer) in another 4 min a partial drive list appears.  Basically it is too slow to use.  The program appears frozen at every operation.  Once able to fully load drive contents / folders, Selecting a folder creates another 5 min wait to load the thumbnails.

Other functions/ modules are working fine and in real time.

Cheers and Thank you for your time.

Hi ThaiBear  - Where are the original files that you want to import located? If they are on a card, can you copy them (or 1 as a test) to your local drive and see if that makes a difference when you import? Try dragging that one image file into the Lightroom from the finder window.

Is your system running Windows 10?

If you are running Windows there is some cortina or explorer function that if turned on makes opening the import panel really slow. It’s some sort of auto-indexing or suggestion service that is to blame that also slows down all other standard file dialogs on the system. I don’t run Windows anywhere so have no clue where this setting is but I remember many people with stuck import dialogues where this turned out to be the problem

What occurs if you create and work with a new catalog?

Wondering if LR is looking for those external hard drives that existed when you created that catalog. This would be a improper issue, but might give a clue.

This sounds like an issue with your drives spinning up.  Prior to importing, are your drives active or perhaps in sleep mode?

Those external hard drives, did one for some unknown reason contain the OS page file? The Temp files?

If you reconnect them, does LR then behave?
