Catalogue pictures not accessible

Had efited photos in catalogue. Imported new files and the old ones disappeared. When I try to import the old edits it tells me they are already there, but they aren't.....

Can you show us a screen shot? When you import photos, you are taken (in the left panel) to the Catalog tab, with the "Previous Import" showing. You can see "All Photos" there, but you'd be better to go to the Folders section to see specific folders of images, or the Collections section if you've created Collections of photos.

 

If this isn't what you're talking about, please post a screen shot to better explain what you're seeing:
