Lightroom Classic Second Monitor Problems

I use the second monitor function as a rule.  It frequently has not worked well.  Turning off the the second monitor display without rhyme or reason.

I'm running with two identical 4k montiors, setup in extended mode.

Recently Windows 10 did an update that has resulted in application windows being resized and moved everytime the montiors go in sleep mode.   I thought that was the extent of the problems.  But now I find that Lightroom will open the second montior window on top of the main window.  If I set it up in Loupe view, then I can't get back to the main window.   When I manage to get the second monitor window to open on the physical second montior, it doesnt stay there.  It will close  by it self, and then when the second montior window button is clicked it re-opens on top of the main window (on the first monitor).

This is frustrating beyond belief!  Is anyone else having this problem and/or found a solution.ggac

Try going to Window > Secondary display > Full screen. (or press Shift F11)

The secondary window can then be toggled on/off by pressing F11.

This works for me on Windows 10.

I do know how to turn the function on/off.  The problem is that it turns off by it self.  Usually when I move the cursor to the main window.

Why are you connecting that one monitor to HDMI? Does not that GPU have 3 Display Port connectors? Mixing Display Port with HDMI is problematic. Using HDMI on Lightroom Classic is problematic.

following is not a direct correlation to HDMI/DP but of interest if you connect HDMI:

That's a good question.   Honestly don't know why I did it that way, given I have cables available.   So, now both monitors are connected via Displayport.     However, that hasn't impacted the behavior of the 2nd window function.

Nvidia GEforce GTX 1080 8mb current driver

Current Driver. On this communityPage the following are dirty words

Latest

Current

Up to date

Often, these words turn out to be false, heck one member had "current" Lightroom, turned out Lightroom 7.2 while actual current was 9.1. Some appear to think MS updates keeps all drivers up to date, i.e. do not assume, prove. Prove I am wrong.

So, exactly what GPU driver version as Lightroom classic reports it. Heck please post your system info as Lightroom Classic reports it (this really should be a default behavior in postings) in Lightroom Classic, click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste into a reply, include all info from first line down to and including plug-in info,

Having the exact same problem.  Having a computer tech over tomorrow to see what's going on.  I switched my Windows 10 to single monitor and it works.  But I can no longer use Lightroom with two monitors.
