Lightroom loses all adjustments when I click onto another image.

I'm in lightroom, sliding the adjustment bars, sometimes clicking Auto adjust etc. I get the image adjusted how I like and then click onto the next photo to make adjustments but when I click back to a photo I've already adjusted, everything is reset back to how it was imported and originally shot. It does not keep any adjustments.

I tried clicking to view original vs adjusted version thinking it just wasn't showing me the one with adjustments, but the only thing there is the original version and the "adjusted" version has all sliders reset to the midline just like the original. It's not keeping my adjustments after I click off the image.

It also just locks up when I try to export a photo to save it and when I try to open it in photoshop.

I'm on a newer Mac desktop with all the bells and whistles. So my computer is not slow.

I've used LR extensively in the past but it's been 4-5 years since I've had it. I just got newer LR again on my new mac and it's giving me these issues.
