I'm wanting to take some Lightroom Classic images from my desktop Mac's massive catalog and move them to my MacBook for work while I'm traveling.  Can I export the photos or a folder in LR as a catalog with all the changes made to date to my cloud and then later bring them back into my existing catalog with the changes I've made?  Or is there a better way to make a temporary move?

That is a great method .. sometime you may wish to consider having the
catalog and files on an external drive so you can just plug and play into
both..--

Use File->Export as Catalog on the desktop and then File->Import from Another Catalog on the MacBook. Do not export photos. More details: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/threads/working-with-a-temporary-catalog.37583/
