When I update to the latest lightroom cc 2015.8 and I close my catalog. I got this message.

There is no problem when I use previous version with the same folder location.

Is there anyone who can help?

Thanks,

William

Our engineers are looking into this, looks like a double byte character issue in Lrcat file name.

For a workaround, could you please try the following

  1. Open Lightroom.
  2. Invoke Lightroom > Preferences... menu command
  3. When the Preferences dialog appears, select the Presets tab.
  4. Click on the button labeled “Show Lightroom Presets Folder...”
  5. Lightroom will reveal the root preset folder in the Finder/Explorer.
  6. Now goto Adobe Creative Cloud  and download the config.lua file and copy it into the root preset fo

The permissions are o.k.

I think it is a bug of the new version cc2015.8. Before I never had this error.

Did anything change concerning catalog backups or the veryfication of the backup destination in this new version?

Hi Stephan,

Do you have double bytes character in your destination folder? If yes, could you try some folder path which does not have the same?

Thanks!

I have a slightly different problem with the new backup routine; it often gets to the end of optimizing the catalog, then goes into Not responding, and then recovers and optimizes the previews catalog.

So I'm using the config.lua to bring back the old routine. That works fine. Reminds me of the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!!

Hello,

I also have the same problem after upgrading to LR 2015.8.

Permissions and sizes of program, working and backup directories are OK. Trying to backup to single byte character folder (e.g. D:\temp) does not solve the problem.

Thanks!

It is a total nightmare after the upgrade, totally inconsistent behaviour after the upgrade to LR 2015.8.

My C: drive contains only apps, NO DATA   - used space 132GB , free 333GB.

Images are stored on 2 x 1TB internal SATA drives , each around 460GB used and 480GB free space.

Main Catalogs stored on D: internal drive.

Catalog backups done to external drive after each edit session.

Running Win 10 64-bit

I did various tests and cannot find a conclusive answer, totally erratic, below is tests I did on some catalogs. I've used catalogs with varying sizes, no of images etc. to see if it was related, however no joy.....

Same problem on my 2! installations.

I am running Lightroom on Windows 10 on a desktop and on Surface 3 pro. I sync the catalog and Fotos on OneDrive Pro.

After updating the desktop to the latest version 2015.8 the problem occured only on my desktop pc.

I still could run the back on Surface with the previous version. After updating the Surrface had the same issue.

Changing the backup location did not help!

Hope Adobe will fix the issue soon!

  8. (Later)Remove or rename the config.lua from the root preset folder once the bug is fixed.

Thank you!

I'm not sure, if I dare to try what you succeed. Do you mean that I copy the

config.lua file from the link in your message? And whwre exactly I should

copy it? The path to the presets folder in my Pc is: C:/

users/viljo/AppData/

Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Preferencies.

Thank you again! Now it works. So, when the bugfix comes I can just delete

the config.lua file.

The fix worked for me with the caveat that the right folder for config.lua is different when "Store Presets with Catalog" is on. The right folder on Windows is always in your user profile e.g. C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom rather than the one that opens as instructed above.

Thank you ChKumar for the interim fix!! Worked fine!
