One function I find invaluable, that is available in Capture One but not in Lightroom, is the availability of the Curve Tool in the masking portion of the Develop Module.  Can you please add Curve Tool function within the Develop Module's Mask Tool?

thanks,

Ed Rudolph

@richardplondon

Everything is developed in ACR and ported to LrC

Masking Curves are coming next...they were only delayed due to time constraints.

The new Mask asettings UI clearly is the first step for the implementation of Curves.

Probably in January we will get it đŸ€žđŸ»

P.S.

LrC being left behind and not having the same features is a problem in itself: Curves is not the only missing feature/tool in LrC.

One issue distinguishing local adjustments (masked) from the global curves we already have, is that local adjustments are applied pre-Basic panel operations within the processing chain.

Tone Curve is applied post-Basic panel operations within the processing chain. Thus for example, currently you can retrieve highlights that would be otherwise blown, by putting in a local adjustment - but you cannot do the same, with Tone Curve - that only redistributes the output from local plus global Basic adjustment.

Hence it's hard to see how the Tone Curve algorithm that we already use, can itself be made local in its action as-is. Rather, some new option is needed AFAICT. I'd have been grateful enough for a local HSL panel, say, but await the implementation in LrC with interest.

It is time that you add Camera Raw masking features to Lightroom; mainly curves and the ability to add object selections automatically (without having to select "add"). Now would be a great time.

If you dont know: "command save your image in lightroom, drag it in photoshop so it opens in Camera Raw, do your masking there, click done, return to lighroom and click on the "update" icon that should have appeared, choose "read from file".

While i appreciate the effort that Adobe has finally made, why did it take more than 15 years? In that time, i've needed the tool 10's of thousands of times, as have countless others. This feature was requested the day local corrections were introduced (well before that, actually) and we've been begging for it ever since.
