P: (Android) App Crashing after 8.1.0 update

Hello! My LR Android Mobile App Version 8.1.0 has been crashing since early yesterday (12-17-22) afternoon. I have done everything on my end to try and fix this issue. I've signed out and signed back in, uninstalled and reinstalled, clear cache, restarted my phone, etc. Nothing seems to work. It is not sinking my photos to my computer. Each time I try and open the App it opens for three seconds before it crashes and kicks me out. Any other suggestions on how to fix this issue? I pay monthly to use this App and how I edit pictures for my clients. This is already effecting how soon I return my pictures to my clients. I don't want to pay for a service that doesn't allow me to use it. Thanks for any help!

Please download Lightroom Mobile Android 8.1.1 from your respective App store as soon as  it is available.  This should cure the crashing issue.

Thank you for your patience.

The app is constantly crashing when sync is on. When turning sync off, it stops crashing, but as soon as sync is turned on again, it crashes 100% of the time within a few seconds.

Clearing cash or rebooting the tablet doesn't help.

Just installed v8.1.0 of the app on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ with Android 12.

I recently have the same problem on my Google Pixel 6 Pro. The symtom is exactly the same as yours: app keeps crashing 100% of the time every times I press the Synce button. This must be a known bugs since I saw several similar thread reporting about the same error.

Has it been fixed on your end yet? I thought I was finally in the clear after it crashing for 24+hours. I just spent five hours making a bunch of edits for it not to sync any of my edits and now I have to start from scratch. This is extremely frustrating on my end. I do hope you are having better luck!

Experiencing the same problem for the last 24 hours. The app crashes as soon as I open a picture, before I can get into editing. It even crashes when I try to use the main menu functions including the Help & Support options. Looking for any help that can resolve this!

Thank you for your reports we are investigating the failure.

Workaround: placing a device in Airplane mode may allow you to continue to work on your images in an offline mode.

Please stand by.

Hello.. since doing a recent update to my lightroom mobile it has started crashing constantly and the app wasn't opening. Now that issue is resolved but when I open the app there is none of my of my photos previously edited and I can't add any photos in to edit. I have also noticed it doesnt sync. I do have a free account and my trial has ended but all my devices are under the same account and they don't have this issue. Please help, thanks. Alanah

Can you try the following steps:

1. Force killing the app using app info.

2. Relaunch the app

Let me know if you see any issues.

I've got the same problem, disabling sync stops the app from crashing.

I've tried deleting and re-adding the recent albums, clearing cache, restarting the phone, but no luck...

Can we download an older version somewhere?

My app also is crashing in the same way. I have not been able to retrieve the pictures taken through the app lately. Very inconvenient.

A week or two ago Lightroom started failing, I open the app and after a few seconds it crashes and closes, android suggests clearing cache cause of a bug, but the problem persists. I tried clearing cache, data, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, logging out and in again, but nothing seems to solve the problem. I'm using a Samsung s22 ultra with android 12 and ui 4.1, Lightroom mobile version 8.1.

New issues have been introduced since this update, quickly editing several images (cropping, light levels) while copying files from sd to main storage crash the app.

I've created a new album with auto-import enabled, my previously imported files are now duplicated in the new album.
