P: (Android) Lightroom mobile 8.5 crashes on entering edit

Hello, I am using the recent 8.50 Lightroom update, and it is continually crashing on 2 different Android devices. Is anyone else having the same issue?

A fix for this issue was released today - LrM (Android version 8.5.1). 

Note: It make take a few days before it shows up in the Google Play store on any particular device.

Seit dem Update auf die neueste Version 8.5.1 friert die App (Lightroom mobile) auf beiden Samsung Android Geräten (Tab und Phone) direkt nach dem Start der Bearbeitung eines Fotos in den Lightroom Alben "Alle Fotos" und "Unbearbeitet" ein. Später erscheint der Hinweis "App reagiert nicht" Eine Bearbeitung von Fotos in dieser Version ist somit unmöglich. Das Leeren des Caches und die Neuinstallation der App hat ebenfalls nichts verändert. Wie kann die App wieder nutzbar gemacht werden? Wie kann ich zur früheren funktionierenden Version zurückkehren?

Happens for larger albums too, but doesn't seem to for small ones.

I upgraded from Samsung Galaxy S21 to the S23 with One UI 5.1. 512 GB with 8GB RAM. I uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled it. I turned RAM plus off. I've done everything I can find on the help boards,  multiple times, and still every time I select a photo to edit it freezes then closes the app. I can't even submit feedback. It's ridiculous. I need actually help. Plz!

I am having the same issue. Android 13, Google pixel 6 pro.

Every time I open the app and try to do anything it freezes and I get the 'app is not responding' message.

 

I have never had any problems with the app until the last update.

There is clearly a major issue with the current version and it needs a fix.

Same here like everyone else on my s21 ultra. By reading other people posts, it seems overwhelmingly the case for samsung phones 🙂

Sélectionner et mettre les photos à éditer dans un album petit, puis ensuite les éditer semble fonctionner pour moi, c'est peut être un compromis pour s'en servir le temps que le bug soit corrigé 🙂

Hi, my Lightroom mobile v8.5.0 is crashing on start up with / without sync turned on following the latest update. All desktop creative cloud apps have been updated. Any thoughts?

Thanks Rikk. I noticed an update earlier and now seems to be working ok, from a brief use of the app. Thanks for sorting. 

Juat a query re the ios system. I am thinking of moving across. Are there plans to allow edit buttons to appear when display is rotated, as they do on Android? Currently it just shows image and have to rotate back to vertical to get edit buttons.

My Lightroom app has been disabled due to the errors. Disabled apps will no longer receive updates. I reactivated Lightroom and the update was installed yesterday. The update was loaded after starting the Lightroom app, but not via the Playstore.

There was an update of the Lightroom app the other day, the app version is v8.5.1 and all the bugs are gone. Thank you very much to everyone who provided detailed advice to resolve the issue. appreciate.

Hello. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I am still having issues even with version 8.5.1. Similar in content, seems fine, then either sticks for a 5-10 seconds then crashes but without the pop up message about 'Lightroom is not responding...', or, freezes when moving from one image to the other and crashes again! This is driving me insane as to the point where I'm going to use Photoshop Express which I used during the last caper. Its more long winded but seems to run smoother. Truth be told I prefer LR but......! Help please?

Hey,

Same thing happened to me as well after the update. I uninstalled LR then reinstalled it and now it works. Clearing the cache/data might work also but i haven't tested it. Only inconvenient with this method is that it might take a while to resync with your cloud depending on your Internet speed/collection size to sync 🙂

Hi. Now I'm really confused. So I uninstalled and re-installed, now seems fine but has reverted to the old interface?? Version is still the latest v8.5.1. Any clues?

That's to be expected as the new interface is an opt in thing for now. You can just re enable it in the experimental features most probably 🙂

......and why is it only 'auto adding' to Gallery, but not Lightroom despite preferences being 'allow auto add' set for both! Can someone from Adobe please respond this is getting really annoying now!!!
