creating lens profile for lightroom (beginners question)

Following the manual I try to build a new lens profile but I am wondering if I understand correctly:

For taking the upper and lower patterns I have to tilt the camera and for right and left  a camera shift ("move")? Is't the latter one a pan (turning the camera around the center of the tripod)?

Yes. The idea is that you should take all the photos from the same tripod position, and pan and tilt as needed to get the patterns in the right position.

Hi

information about how to use a camera to capture a profiling target would be best sought from the profiling target and software manufacturer. I would not expect you to have to tilt or pan to get a profile

I hope this helps

if so, please "like" my reply and if you're OK now, please mark it as "correct", so that others who have similar issues can see the solution

thanks

Yes, I believe it's a pan. Should be easy just to try. If you use the wrong method, your profile will be so much off that you'll know immediately!

Thanks Johan, yes I tried. It seems to be pan.

Though I have to pan AND tilt if I want to reach the corners. So it is not simply pan from center to right frame, take photo and then tilt up and down for the two corners photos. The pattern will leave the frame then. I need to pan and tilt in conjunction to reach the two corners. Would you agree that's how it works?

Dear Neil @ colourmanagement.net, I was not precise with my question. I am trying to build a LENS profile for lightroom.

With my first tests I found that pan and tilt need to be used in conjunction. Otherwise I never reach all corners of the photo frame. Lens is Samyang 14/2,8 aka Walimex, by the way.

I edited your original question. Originally, your title read 'camera profile', not 'lens profile'.
