P: Ability to disable the green outlines in manual focus in Lightroom Camera mode

The manual focus is an awesome feature since for some insane reason Apple decided to omit a manual focus even on the Pro model iPhones that are supposed to be for high end photo and video work.

However, the green outlines in the manual focus mode in the Lightroom Camera capture are horrendous, distracting, and usually makes me shoot out of focus because the outlines don't do a good to help job dialing in focus.

GIVE US THE ABILITY TO DISABLE THE GREEN OUTLINES PLEASE

Hi all, I am myopic, but am able to focus well without any assist of corrective lenses or, for the matter a green coloured tint that comes up when using the manual focus of My Lightroom camera. This did not come up on Android (2gigs of RAM) but comes up on the iPad 2022 model.

I tried disabling it, but to no avail. Maybe I am missing a setting somewhere?

Any help would be good!

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Arnav Sawhney

Is the issue that you are using Pro mode in the Lightroom Camera, and have tapped the 'Auto' button between WB and Reset, to enter manual focus mode?  If so, the green highlights that show what's in focus are part of the design of the app and are expected.

If you prefer not to use the manual focus slider, double-tap that button to switch it back off  (so that it says +Auto again), and then simply use tap to focus, and what's in the white square should be in focus.

Greetings, thank You for the reply. Unfortunately it does not provide a solution. I want no green stuff. Yet, I would love to use the manual focus function. I am willing to wait if a development towards that direction is mandated so that I can use manual focus on iPadOS without the green focus assist,

In manual focus it always shows the green focus assist. If it doesn't do that on Android, that is a bug. It is supposed to.

Thank You for Your reply. I uninstalled the android version a while ago, and instead used the IPad.

i don't want the green focus assist at all as it obscures text from the subject which I want to observe whilst focusing. I would appreciate the ability to manual focus without that green thingy.

Regards.

Yeah the green outlines are terrible and there needs to be a way to disable them and still be able to use manual focus.

You can disable the green outlines and manual slider, and just use single-tap on the screen to focus on your subject.

You're not reading entirely.
I WANT to use MANUAL FOCUS

I just DON'T WANT the green outlines

Single tap focus is garbage on iPhones especially in low light

Hello @cynicxiii

I am simply stating for you and others who visit this thread what is currently possible.  I see you did the right thing to seek change, which is to start a new thread as an "Idea," which users can vote on to show interest product managers.

Would You be kind enough to take it up to some technical persons(developers) who may add this feature? We had a photography session and I took only 1 photo as I though that the green outline is a bug. Later on I realised it's a well intentioned feature, however I want to work without it.
Typically I enjoy setting the focus ever so slightly off to create a softer picture. Sometimes I'm too lazy to adjust the focusing ring(or the slider) I just move the camera forward or backwards in a gradual manner. This gives a very smooth and vintage look and makes the capture pleasing and easy on the eyes.

I don't wanna go anywhere else as I have won photography prizes all due to Androids manual focus. I would not like to abandon a platform which has given Me a community and recognition even on a cheap phone. I mean I beat dslrs with a 8mp sdr camera, all due to Lightroom.

And the funny thing is I purchased it as a mistake, I thought it was a video editor. But kept it and sorely utilized it for its manual focusing abilities.

The aforementioned photos are published In My company so might not be reproduced elsewhere.
