Now that LRM has the ability to do HDR photos with the built in camera, it would be nice to also be able to produce HDR images with imported photos. It should be fairly easy to implement since the coding is already done for the camera.
There is no way to do this on iPad using Lightroom. If you have the Photographer subscription, you can use Lightroom Classic.
Alternatively, try Affinity Photo for iPad—currently it’s 50% off!! It can Merge to Stack, Focus Stack, Panorama, HDR—all the things Lr for iPad SHOULD be able to do!!
Hi, I read everywhere that the android version of lightroom was supposed to be able to merge photos with different exposure. But I can't find this function anywhere in Lightroom mobile. I have photos taken with a Canon R6 (I don't want to take photos with my phone). Can you advise please?
thank you very much for your reply. Is it possible to expect this function in the mobile version? It would be very useful for me on the road when photographing real estate.
i've found a way to have the lightroom desktop capabilities on an ipad. As a Microsoft employee myself I was looking into using Azure vm's for this and this works perfectly. The way I use it is during travelling is as follows: I sync the photos on the sd card via my ipad to onedrive. I've set up a virtual machine with lightroom desktop version installed on that. Then download the microsoft app 'RD Client' on the ipad to launch the VM and voila, you have a fully working windows pc on your ipad which works legit, no goofy software. Then on the VM i use the lightroom desktop app to merge my photo to HdR. It then automatically uplouds to the adobe cloud and you can close the vm and work further on your photo via the ipad LR app. Down below a very good video on how to setup that VM to let it work with your ipad: https://youtu.be/k0645eXL0oc?si=Fo7_R3vu3BuM7ZCm
I moved to iPad Pro from MacBook. I am a digital artist and wedding/landscape photographer. Both digital art and wedding photos I can perform editing well from iPad. However I met a big road block when I uploaded my Landscapes into Lightroom for iPad. I shoot multiple exposures both in single frame and panoramas.
I am a bit discouraged to see this thread was posted in 2021 and here in 2024 there is still merge features on iPad. Do i have to invest in a new Mac only to use this feature? Or look outside of Adobes products?
I don't understand why they aren't able to implement it by now. There's obviously the demand there, its one of the very few main functions that is missing from the Mobile version compared to the Desktop version and the best advice to give here is: Use Affinity Photo. Too bad Adobe dowsn't allow to open and save images with external editors in Lightroom mobile.
As HDR photos can be shot directly with certain cams, I can understand that Adobe would argue, that its obsolete to add HDR merge functions in a more consumeroriented app like LR Mobile. But as its available in the Desktop version of the same app, its just ridiculous.
And same can't be said about panorama images. They have the tech for this available on the desktop (not even LR Classic which of course has more features, but also the regular LR desktop application) but can't or don't want to implemeht them on mobile. For years now. I understand it might not be worth having a developer working on this from a manager's standpoint. But as a user its just frustrating. And if I start solving this through Affinity Photo I might as well just move my whole workflow over to this as its more capable and complex anyways. But I still do like the cross platform cloud functionality of LR. So. PLEASE Adobe.
You are coming across as an apologist for Adobe, even if that is not your intention.
There is no excuse for Adobe. When these processes are available in a strong competitor, there is no excuse for Adobe not to adopt them, other than economic, corporate self-interest.
HDR and Panorama merge are 2 of only 4 points remaining on my "Only on Mac" list (the two others are a video conversion tool like Handbrake and file sync tool like BeyondCompare).
Adobe, you could fix 50% of my list for a iPad-only workflow. Please help!
This feature is sorely missing. Please add this, it is absolutely crippling for traveling to not have hdr merge. I would love to just bring my iPad and run some HDRs. Instead I have to bring my laptop, make the hdrs then switch to iPad. It defeats the purpose of having the iPad app for me. A majority of my photos are bracketed because I like landscape when traveling. This is a defining feature or lack of on the iPad.
How close is Adobe when it comes to making this a reality? There is obviously a great deal of interest, and I'd expect that as an active subscriber, the mobile apps made available would receive further development. Subscriptions evolved with the promise of continued enhancements would be made to all photo editing apps.
Looking back, users have been asking for this feature for over 8 years now!
Wouldn't it be great if lightroom mobile had a photomerge option? Especially when limited with your smartphone sensor, being able to stitch together high resolution landscapes piece by piece. I use this tool most of the time when using loght room classic and would be really helpful on mobile especially when limited with a smartphone sensor.
