Considering that the last iPads have the same power as a MacBook Air, can we hop to see this feature soon ?
In my current workflow, I have to use desktop lightroom via VNC from my iPad to denoise, and then upload/download every pictured edited, which is quite cumbersome.
I have an iPad with an M2 chip and a Mac with an M1... guess which can do this and guess which can't... lol.
Anyways, even having them appear correctly in the library after being made on a Mac would be nice. It appears like me having 2 copies of tons of my photos if I open it on an iPad or iPhone.
Adding to this, particularly with the advent of HDR editing capability and hardware display requirements for that.
Currently, the only Apple devices that can really handle multiple stops of HDR are iPhones (at least as far back as the iPhone 12); the 12.9" iPad Pro; and the recent 14"/16" MBP. (Plus the $5k+ XDR external display.) The only way to use both Enhance and full HDR on the same device is to buy a high-end MBP, or another Mac desktop + a very pricey external display. Otherwise, to switch back and forth between devices (for me, M1 MBP for Enhance/Denoise/Super Resolution, iPhone for everything HDR beyond 1 stop).
I realize that an older iPhone in particular (or any A-chip) might have trouble handling Enhance quickly, but they are capable of AI masks and even my iPhone 12 can handle a slightly less fully featured version of the fairly processor-intensive AI Lens Blur on the fly. The current iPad Pro is arguably way more capable than my current MBP that does do Enhance, though. Basically—the most accessible XDR screens are on iPhone/iPad. Please take advantage of that, and don't require a different device (or a brand new very expensive one) to simultaneously take advantage of a pretty important feature.
I wonder if they hold back Lightroom because they have issues making some features work on the weakest devices. If so, that's a mistake I think.
For example, if denoising can't run in the weakest devices, they should included it on the devices that can run it and not on the devices that can't. I don't have numbers to back this up, but I'm imagining that those of us who are serious about editing on devices like phones and tablets use the better devices. Not the cheaper phones. I am talking about people who use mobile devices to edit on purpose when they have computers they could use. Like no one with a good computer whips out their phone to do serious editing, right? But people with a good tablet and a good PC might use the tablet, I think. Give those people all the features that can run on their device, don't let the weak devices hold everyone back. (Sorry for the rant, hope I made sense.)
My M1 Macbook just got damaged - not useable anymore. I am glad I have an iPad Pro 12.9 with M1. Still waiting for the AI Denoise as I want to use the iPad as I used my M1 Macbook. The interface of Lightroom on iPad is ok and very intuitive but the endresults I get with pictures that need good denoise are not ok, the oldfashioned way with luminance sliders is not ok. Come on I pay each month a decent amount of money. If there is no proper solution on iPad for my summertour I will cancel my subscription (on PC/Mac Mini I already have DxO Pure Raw). I am not planning to buy a new Macbook again.
It's especially effective with those small smartphone sensors so it would be really helpful to process them on the device instead of waiting until I get home to run it through LR desktop.
I would even be fine if you deduct generative AI tokens for using it on the phone.
I really need that De-Noise on the go, sucks to say "yes I could send you your picture now, or you wait until I get home and it will look better". If I even get home and am not on a week long trip.
While not a free solution, a low-cost one would be to install Photomator on your iPad alongside Lightroom Mobile. It includes AI denoise, upscale and even deband. I've been impressed with the results.
Could you add AI noise reduction in lightroom mobile? It is very annoying for my workflow to have to go to my 2015 PC that barely runs Lightroom to apply the reduction noise
Update on this reply, I am currently deleting my cloudstorage at Adobe. As there is no movement at or sign from Adobe concerning AI Denoise on my Ipad pro I will discontinue my subscription. What an arrogance to ignore the customers!
So, it's final, I am going to unsubscribe from LR/PS - Adobe is doing nothing with these threads about AI-tools for iPad. Just updated (paid) my DXO Pure Raw to version 4. While travelling I will upload my RAW, to be denoised images to my Mac Mini running DXO Pure Raw and Luminar (both with no monthly subscription) and upload them to Flickr. My iPad Pro runs Google Remote Desktop decently enough to remotely do all the editing stuff. Adobe is missing the opportunity here to be/stay the number 1!!!
Since Adobe is giving us no information on denoise ai for ipad - there is an alternative to this: you can use Photomator on iPad for its AI denoise feature. The results looke somewhat similar to Lightroom and you can batch edit. I think this shows that it is not a technical issue, why this feature is not yet in lightroom for ipad.
Since Adobe is silent on this topic: You can use Photomator in iPad as an alternative. It has AI-Denoise and Super-Resolution - you can also Batch edit photos. I am really dissapointed in Adobe for ignoring that feature request.
