I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

Hi I think you have to run Photoshop under Rosetta, more info https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html

If you're on a new Apple M1 processor machine, video isn't current supported. It's coming in the future. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html Run in Rosetta until native support is available for video.

Impossible to open mp4 or mov . A message appear:  COULD NOT COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST BECAUSE PHOTOSHOP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS TYPE OF FILE.

So how to import video inside my photoshop?

Hi, for M1 macs, you need to run it in Rosetta for the moment to get Video layers: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html

I am wondering if it is shown when starting Ps on an M1 for the first time.

@Kamila KG via Rosetta emulation, as explained in the previously posted link:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html

Sadly, no one wants that - they would like to see it back in M1 native. Who wants to keep going back and forth with versions.

Try running the Intel version on your M1. It should work.

Stop telling us to use Apple's solution to YOUR problem. Apple Silicon isn't going away, fix your premium professional software. I don't pay Apple to fix your problems, I pay Adobe for that.

I got same problem on my M1 Macbook.

There was a red question mark on the imported images, cannot play and export as streaming file.

The Photoshop 2022 was downloaded just now, not sure it's for M1 optimized or not.

Adobe Photoshop Version: 23.0.1 20211105.r.68 x64

Operating System: Mac OS 12.0.1

But after trying the workaround you provided, it does work.

Thanks for your post.

Yep. It's the M1. Close that version of PS and open up Creative Cloud and select Open (Intel) under Photoshop. Example attached. You should see your video timeline and editing capabilities come back.

Opening in rosseta on an M1 macbook air, it does technically re-enable the feature in photoshop. However, when trying to save out a video to gif, it tells me there is not enough memory(on a 16g/512g configuration). So the re-enabling of the feature is kinda pointless, in that it just ads it back to the menu, but is of little practical use. I tried installing an earlier intel version, but the effect is the same(although the error message is not specific, instead saying unknown). I'm not sure of the technicallities, but there's obviously some kind of issue in that the export can't access the available RAM from m1 chip.

Hi - 72dpi 1080x1920.
For instagram stories.
Same will be required for video posts at 1080x1080
This doesn't seem onerous to me?
I probably won't need the gif versions in the end and the video exports
from AE will be fine, but it is useful to have this option for other
digital assets based off same campaign.
