P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

Community Beginner ,
Apr 08, 2021 Apr 08, 2021

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

Be aware that after the switch to Rosetta, I began experiencing photoshop crashes. Not terribly frequent (about once a day) but it is noticeable over the ZERO number of crashes I was experiencing before the switch.

Looks like Adobe just released a update adding video support!

"With the June 2022 release of Photoshop 22.4, excited to share that the native support for video editing and playback is now enabled for Mac devices using the Apple Silicon M1 chips. For earlier Photoshop versions, video editing was possible on Intel-based Mac devices only."

Hi everyone,

Whenever I try to import sequence in photoshop, the frames that are loaded are totally blank. Sequence is imported, and the length is correct (it has the same amount of frames as original sequence), but every frame is completely empty for some reason. And therefore obviously I can't export a gif.

What could be the issue here?

Hello,  Rosetta is not needed anymore if you update to Ps 23.4, as videos now work in the native mode: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/whats-new/2022-3.html#other-enhancements

Go to the CC app, and update Photoshop!

@PECourtejoie Hi Pierre, Adobe have asked users who updated to roll back from v23.4 to v23.3.2 due to a serious issue. v23.4 no longer appears in the update list

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that sequence cannot be opened properly in Photoshop. We're here to help.

Could you please share the version of Photoshop (Help > About Photoshop) and the macOS version on your computer?

What is the file format you are working with? Since when are you seeing this issue? Where are the files located internal or external drive?

Have you tried Rosetta emulation mode? If not, please try using Rosetta.

To learn how to run Photoshop in Rosetta, see About Rosetta.

Let us know if this helps.

Regards.

Ranjisha

That happened to me. Close go to the app Icon. Select get info. Check open in Roseta mode. And it works.

Hi Ranjisha,

Yup, switching to Rosetta solved the issue.

Thank you,
