P: Current Tool Name Very Slow To Display in Status Bar

For the last six months (or so) the name of the Current Tool can take 5-10 seconds to display in the status bar (lower left). I'm a heavy keyboard user, so J, S, U, E get used a lot. The tool function changes quickly (as seen in the Tool pallette) but the current name display takes several seconds. This becomes a problem with keys such as J which has at least four tools - yes, I use all of them. Say I move between Clone Stamp, Eraser and Blur, then come back to "J" - I may not remember which tool I used last and may wait 5-10 secs before the name appears. My workflow has been the same for many years as have my settings (below). Could PS have changed something in an update in the last few months?

  • Using GFX processor w/ all 4 options ticked
  • PS can use 70% of RAM (8,436 MB)
  • 60 history states; 6 cache levels; tile size 1024 k
  • Yes, I always update PS with the latest and greatest
  • Running Windows 10 Home, 64 bit, always updated

Hoping to hear it's a known issue and Adobe is working on it.

Thanks all.

I can repro. I'll see if it's something we can address.
