It looks like a bug in 24.1 - I am unable to open it here either. Resetting preferences has no impact.

Do you tried to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:

Preferences in Photoshop (adobe.com)

Please backup your settings before resetting the preferences. You can check:

Migrate presets, actions, and settings (adobe.com)

My graphics card is enabled and I have plenty of memory however, I cannot access the materials panel. When I go to Window>Materials and click on it it simply closes the dropdown and returne me to my image.

How can I acces the materials panel?

Hi @SC Oly User Well, there could be a few things going on. First, what mode is your image in? Also, you need to be working on a valid layer, which is either a pixel layer or a selection on a pixel layer, or a smart object. If you create a new artboard and draw out any shape, can you access the Materials panel? It's working for me in this quick test. (Windows 10, Photoshop 24.0.1 Release)

J E L I have a photo that is open in PS and I copied the background layer. I am on Windows 11 and PS 24.1.0. I also tried a new document and in neither case did Materisal open for me.

@SC Oly User Looks like you are on to something. I updated to 24.1, and now I can't open the Materials panel either. Pinging @CShubert to take a look into this for us!

Yes i can replicate that the Window>Materials panel will not open on photoshop 24.1 on macOS Ventura 13.1

hola , tengo la version 24.1 de phoytoshop y veo que sta desactivado los materiales y no se como activarlos.

ventana- materiales  clico y no aparecen.

Dopo l'aggiornamento 24.1 il Pannello MATERIALI non si apre più!!! Bisogna iscriversi a Substance 3D e pagare??? Io già pago l'abbonamento a Photoshop perchè non posso utilizzarli gratuitamente????

This may be a bug. I do have the Substance 3D collection, but I couldn't get the Materials panel to open in 24.1 on either Windows 10 or on macOS.

Adobe is shutdown for the holidays, but I'll see if I can get a message to someone on the team. In the meantime, you might try installing a previous version of Photoshop.
