The only thing that worked for me, I noticed the plugindata folder was read only, I unticked this and it worked.

The issue where renaming the PluginData folder was required should be fixed in 22.1 or later.

Can you try quitting Photoshop, then delete/rename the following folder?

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\UXP\PluginsStorage\PHSP\22\Internal\com.adobe.nfp.gallery\PluginData

Restart Photoshop. It should force to re-download all models.

Let me know if this fixes it.

Certainly Jeff,

To answer your first question clearly: Yes, The whole Macbook screen freezes, I can't access menus or the dock.

I use 8 bit sRGB files, usually small size Png or Jpeg. I've tried three.

So the Neural Filters in Summary:

Featured List:

Skin Smoothing is dimmed

Style Transfer is active (this one crashes the Mac)

Beta List:

Makeup and smart portrait dimmed.

Depth: runs fine

Colorize: OK

Superzoom: takes a while to complete but does not freeze or reboot.

Jpeg artefacts: Takes a while to process but again no freeze or crashes.

Plugin data:

There are instructions on this page. See the note for the scenario where you don't see the Crash Reporter dialog appear:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

If Photoshop is freezing and you need for force quit, that won't generate a useful crash report - and we'll have to look at different troubleshooting steps.

Open Start
Search for "Command Prompt" and launch it
Enter the following command:REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CommonFiles\CRLog /v "Never Ask" /t REG_SZ /d 0
Press the Enter key
If asked “Value Never Ask exists, overwrite(Yes/No)?" choose Yes

I am unable to do that.

I don't know why anyone is surprised, Just the usual Adobe update garbage, Clean OS Install, 21.2.4 working perfectly, Install Photoshop 22 clean, open small jpg, select Neural filters, Panel appears 5 seconds later Photoshop crash.

Tried solutions below, no luck.

I'd wait for 22.1 or 22.2 before trying to use the new features.

I have tried all the suggestions here to fix the Neural Filters Download problem.  Anymore thoughts on this?  Any time I try to download the filters, the SAME Download Icon is always still there. I can see the Size, and it "appears" to download... but never anymore added files to my "PluginData" folder. Only the original 37 files - 4 Folders.

I am running newest version of PS - 22.1.1, with a RTX2080 Super, on a ThreadRipper 2950X, 128 GB RAM. Windows Pro - Build 19042, NVidia 460.89

AMD ThreadRipper 2950x - AIO, Corsair 128GB RAM, eVGA RTX 2080 Ti<br />Two Fast M.2 2TB drives for OS and Adobe Cache, RAID for storage 8TB<br />Canon 5D MKII, Epson 4990 Scanner, SureColor P400 Printer>Windows Pro 11<br />

Version 22.2.0 on Windows 64 - Neural Filters do NOT download. Tried every suggestion on the net, especially in this thread, nothing works.

(a) Gets to about 95 - 99% and then goes back to the Download button

(b) Starts downloading, keeps dropping out after a few %

How about fixing this?

And while you're at it, fix this problem that you have been ignoring for at least 10 YEARS:

Neural filters won't download. Click to download, it blinks, says it is downloading, but sits at 0% endlessly. Tried all of the 'fixes' I could find. No point in listing all of my computer's stats because from the comments abound, no one system is the same. Not a system issue.

Had an Adobe tech remote into my system Friday and try a lot of things. Ended up saying "It's a bug - get back to you after the weekend".

So now we wait, but at least they have seen it in action (or lack of it 🙂 )

@gordon_greaves I'm pretty sure it's a permissions issue where the filters are writing to. I've no problem with downloading these on my work laptop where I have administrative control or any other computer I have admin and am NOT signed into Windows with a Microsoft account.

I was able to get mine working. On my laptop, I am logged in with a Microsoft account, I think that may have something to do with a permissions issue on the folders Adobe uses. Anyway,

>>Downloaded the filters on my work laptop where I have full admin and the same version of PS 22.3.

>>Copied this folder from my work lapmargin: 0;">>>With PS closed, copied the folder into the same location on the other laptop

>>Unzipped the the contents of PlugInData.zip that I got from another Adobe forum into the PluginData folder and now, it's working.

I can't find the original post that had the zip file but I reloaded it here. It contains a manifest.json file and a TOUR_DONE.lskey file. PluginData.zip
