Adobe Camera Raw Alternatives?

Can anyone recommend an Adobe Camera Raw alternative? Something that doesn't crash Photoshop when it opens?

Kevin, I have not tried that. However according to that page, this CR is compatible with the last two versions of Photoshop. I'm the latest.

ACR now requires a fully supported GPU to operate at all. That's most likely the reason.

What GPU do you have? Is it a laptop with dual GPUs? In that case they may conflict and you should disable the integrated GPU.

If you post Help > System Info we can see your complete GPU configuration.

Thanks, but these instructions are for windows, and I'm on a mac. I'll poke around for a mac version, or if you know of mac instructions for this, please let me know.

If you want the High Power Graphics  card as the default, here are the Mac instructions:

Go into Apple System Preferences > Battery  Uncheck "Automatic Graphics Switching"

Also be sure it's unchecked under "Power Adaptor."

In MacOS 10.15 or earlier, this is under Energy Saving Preferences.

This is how, but note that I personally haven't had issues with either my 2015 15" MBP or 2019 16" MBP, both with Radeon cards. I have switching turned off (which can cause heat and battery life issues) but can run with switching on and no crashes.
