I thought there was a way in photoshop where if you have a color swatch as a symbol and apply that to multiple layers/objects, if you change the color later on down the road it will change all of those objects as well. Anybody know what I'm referring to?
That is a global color in Illustrator, can't do it in Photoshop.

Illustrator works more that way as a vector based program.
In Photoshop you could Layer >> Layer Style >> Color Overlay. Then"
Layer >> Layer Style >> Copy layer style
Select destination layers
Layer >> Layer Style >> Paste layer style
If you still need help please post a screenshot of your layers and art. There are other ways which might help you better. EG: make selected items a smart object and then adding only one color overlay graphic style.

if using shapes on independent layers, you can select all layers in the layer panel and then select a new color in the options bar across the top

Thats what I was thinking of then is illustrator having the global color feature, wish they would put that in photoshop too

That would be a good feature request for Photoshop!

If you do make a Feature Request/Bug Report Form , please be very specific on what types of layers you want affected
Otherwise I suspect your request will not get very far past people questioning exactly this would work

So you'd like to select some layers and then by just clicking certain swatch apply its color to selected layers by filling them?
