Merge layers

In PS when I shift +ctrl+alt+e to create a composit layer of all the layers below in the layers panel instead of getting a thumbnail of my image the thumbnail instead shows a blank layer.  This worked fine on other versions of PS.

Perhaps a reset of the Preferences might help. Look for the Reset Preferences On Quit button within the General tab of the Photoshop Preferences.
