After recently updated to PS 2021, the "create new path" pen tool will not connect a path to the anchore points...they're just floating points! I tried copy and paste of an older path, erased a line segment and tried to redraw it but still wouldn't connect the line. Any suggestions? Thanks!
The workaround is to create a work path with at least one pixel, then your named paths will work. Instead of looking for a second machine, you can go back using the Creative Cloud app, btw.

The issue has been reported to Adobe and Adobe is working on it.

Sadly, the problem wasn't addressed in latest Photoshop update.

I'm on a deadline and this is happening to me right now. Is there any work-around? It's nine days since you've posted this...

Thanks, anyways. Work around: second machine that wasn't auto-updated with the lates PS!

Thanks. The good news is that I didn't have "to go looking" for another machine, it was right next to me and had the previous version of PS on it. Also, simply going back to the version prior, works even better than your suggested work-around because it's one less step to worry about, but I'm grateful for the suggestion.

If you start a work path using the pen tool rather than clicking new path then the anchor points will join ok. if you have a part made path which will no longer join, start a new work path using the pen tool copy and paste your part made path into this work path and the points will join up ok. only when it is a saved path or clipping path will it no longer join.
Hope this helps
