Hello there,

A few days ago, I 've been  trying play an 'avi' file on Premiere Elements, but I 've not been able to play this file in my host with this software. I've tested to install a generyc Windows video codecs, but the problem persists. I've tested all tutorials from the Adobe web site.

Please. Do you know any way to telephone or to comunicate with Adobe client support?

Thank you very much.

AVI is a video format that can be made up of any of thousands of codecs, many of which were designed to be played but not edited.

Open it in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo set View to Text and then copy and paste the report it generates to this forum. Once we know what this file is composed of, we'll be better able to recommend how you proceed.

AVC/H264 in an avi wrapper is not supported by Adobe.

Might want to convert to mp4 with HandBrake

I agree with Ann. Running the video through the free download Handbrake will convert it to a standard MP4, which Premiere Elements can easily edit.

The video is also an unusual size 1500x768 with video pixels that are using the .151 pixel aspect ratio. But Handbrake should be able to convert it to a more standard 1280x720 video with a 1.0 pixel aspect ratio.

You are reading the wrong line:

The video is

Width        : 768 pixels

Height       : 432 pixels

Also its over 3 hours, Elements might choke on this.

You are absolutely right, Ann! So the javier should set the output for an 855x480 MP4.

And you also make a very good point. 3 hours is a LOOOOOOOONG video clip. Unless javier has a pretty powerful computer with a lot of RAM, the program might have trouble importing a file that size.
