I've been using PE 13 to edit video shot with a Sony camcorder for several years. I start with several chunks of video (around 2 gb each) of MTS format video. They are added to the timeline in the order they were shot. In PE13 everything is good and audio is in sync from beginning to end. I recently installed PE 2018 and starting with the second chunk of video the audio is behind the video. Not sure if the time difference accumulates from new chunk to new chunk but this didn't happen in 13 and does in 2018. Has anyone seen this and is it a correctable think in 2018? I haven't found anything in the prefs that would account for or correct the situation. Thanks!

Most likely you're using video that is using variable frame rates.
Open some of the video that's out of sync in Premiere Elements in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the report it generates and paste it to this forum.

Is that a report from just one video? It looks like several.
Which is the video that is playing out of sync when you add it to Premiere Elements?

Sorry....grabbed the folder to process which generated outputs for all the video files. All files are from the most recent camcorder shoot. When adding the first video in the above output the audio is synced correctly, When I add the next video the audio lags the video. The audio lag continues when adding the other files in name order but I don't think the lag increases with each successive video. Since I needed to get this edited and out the door I re-installed PE13 and edited the video with no problems and no audio lag. This only happens in PE2018. Thanks much for the help in figuring this out.

I dont use sony cameras but have been reading out of sync seems to be occurring more often lately.
Possible solution is to use Sony Play Memory to copy files from card to hdd instead of Explorer or Elements.
Once on the hdd ingest into Elements.

Thanks for the reply Ann. Files are all pulled from the SD card to local storage (SSD) and then brought into PE for editing. Not familiar with Sony Play Memory so I will have to investigate that. Again the files stay synced when using PE13 and only have issues in PE2018. After looking again at the MediInfo output file and it appears that the camcorder is using VBR for the files. What seems to be the best utility to convert the files from VBR to CBR to see if that makes 2018 happy?

VBR as in variable BITRATE is not the same as variable FRAMERATE (VFR) which is often the issue. But regular cameras don't film in VFR.
Try the Sony app.

I will. Thanks.
