frames repeat at end of clip in PE 2019 - Why?

I just purchased Premiere Elements 2019 to assemble a brief movie from video clips of a nesting bird.

At the end of the clip, the bird flies away. The clip plays as expected in QuickTime Player.

In PE, the bird starts to fly away, then it's back on the nest and flies away again!

What happened to the clip that it plays with a repeat at the end.

I tried a new project with only this one clip and it happens the same way.

Any ideas on what is going on and how to make the clip play as it is recorded?

I spoke to Deepak Kumar at Adobe Technical Support. He looked at what I was seeing on my mac by using a remote access tool.

He was able to get my license transferred to Premiere Elements 2018, which works for me. I'll have to stay on macos 10.13.6, because 2018 won't work on 10.14. Hopefully 2019 will be updated by the time I need to update macos - no hurry on that!

Since you've tried this clip in a new project and you get the same results, it's likely something in the video clip itself.

What device did this video come from? Did you run the video through some other software or a converter or is it directly from your camcorder?

Open your raw video in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy and paste the report it generates to this forum.

If you are willing to share the clip via DropBox or similar, I would be happy to check it on my Windows 10 PC with PrE 2019.

There's certainly nothing in the video specs that would indicate a problem.

I like Bill's idea. If you can share it with us we could see if we get the same results.

Thanks for sharing the clip, Jim.

I downloaded it and loaded into a Premiere Elements 2019 project. It worked perfectly! I'm not seeing the jump back into the nest you describe at all.

Well, that is puzzling. I'm running on macos 10.13.6. The clip plays perfectly on QuickTime. I tried another couple of clips in PE and one over them showed a similar anomaly at the end. The other clip had a static scene at the end so it was hard to tell if something went wrong.

I'll try reinstalling Premiere Elements 2019.

Thanks for your testing!

Sorry, whsprague. Thanks for your testing idea, though!

Steve Grisetti confirmed that the clip plays as expected.

There must be something wrong with my macos installation of Premiere Elements 2019. I uninstalled it and re-installed it, but the problem still occurred.

So I installed Premiere Elements 2018 from this page:

Download Adobe Premiere Elements | 2019, 2018, and 15

I could not use my 2019 serial number on the 2018 version, but I could run it as a trial. On the trial version the clip plays perfectly.

I noticed that the 2018 downloading process from the linked page was different than the download from the page where I purchased 2019, So now I am trying a download of 2019 from the linked page. It is downloading a 3 GB file instead of the stub installer that came on the purchase download.

I'll report later how 2019 works or doesn't work after installing from this page.

I finished the re-installation of Premiere Elements 2019. Unfortunately it has the same symptom as before.

The playing the clip has repeated frames at the end, almost as if it is backing up and going over the past few frames again.

Since 2018 does not have this behavior, it looks like a glitch in the macos version for 2019.

I would happily use 2018, but my license won't work on it.

Any suggestions?

If we can't duplicate it, we can't really recommend any solutions.

Although I think it's truly bizarre that you're seeing the same issue on every computer and in every project you load it into!

Well, it is only one computer and only Premiere Elements 2019 on macos 10.13.6.

Premiere Elements 2018 seemed to work OK in the same environment. To me that points to a problem with 2019.

Are you familiar with a process to communicate about it with Adobe?
